The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Specialist Leudy Castro, United States Army, for heroism above and beyond the call of duty while serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 5th Ranger Training Battalion, in action on 5 November 2014. Specialist Castro disregarded his own safety in order to extract, threat, and evacuate an injured civilian from a burning vehicle. His courageous actions undoubtedly save the live of the injured driver. Specialist Castro’s actions are in keeping with the finest traditions of the Rangers and reflect distinct credit upon himself, the United States Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, and the United States Army.
