The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Senior Airman Joanne Marie Rigsby, United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life at an accident scene involving a semitrailer and car collision near Denver, Colorado, on 26 August 1988. On that date, Senior Airman Rigsby’s humanitarian efforts in administering first aid, and her conspicuous acts of valor climbing in and out of the crushed vehicles with spilled fuel and broken glass everywhere, directly resulted in saving the lives of two of the accident victims. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by Airman Rigsby reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
