The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel (Field Artillery) Larry W. Heuple (ASN: 0-5707676), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States. While serving as Resource Management Officer, Resource Management Directorate, United States Army Ballistic Missile Defense Program Office, Office of the Army Chief of Staff, from May 1980 through April 1983. His ability to work harmoniously with staff counterparts, key officials of Department of Defense, Office of Management and Budget, and the Congressional Staff were instrumental in accomplishing the ballistic Missile Defense Mission. Lieutenant Colonel Heuple’s professionalism and dedication during more than 20 years service have allowed him to make significant contributions to our nation and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
