The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Chief Warrant Officer Four Leland R. Cole, United States Army, for extremely meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force. During the period 10 March 1971 until 9 March 1972, Chief Warrant Officer Four Cole served with distinction as a Supply Warrant Officer of the 138th Aviation Company and Aviation Officer of the 309th Radio Research Group. His initiative and professional skill in coordinating efforts between group headquarters and subordinate aviation units insured that the high state of successful mission accomplishment of the 509th Radio Research Group was continuously maintained. Chief Warrant Officer Four Cole’s personal diligence and devotion to duty deserves emulation; for his exemplary performance was in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
