    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Infantry) William Hybert (ASN: 0-1299747), United States Army, for /*gallantry in action while serving with the 317th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Luxembourg, from 19 to 21 January 1945, in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States. During the counterattack at Schengel, Luxembourg, First Lieutenant Hybert adjusted fire within 50 yards of his position, thereby, halting the enemy thrust. During the attack on Hehnen, Luxembourg, he infiltrated behind the enemy, established an observation post, and directed effective fire for the attack. First Lieutenant Hybert’s courage and devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
