The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pride in presenting the Soldier’s Medal (Posthumously) to Sergeant Shawn E. Powell, United States Army Reserve, for heroism above and beyond the call of duty on 11 September 2001, as a firefighter for the New York City Fire Department, while responding to the emergency fire and explosions at he World Trade Center in lower Manhattan.
