The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Technician Fifth Grade Aram Boornazian (ASN: 33578089), United States Army, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy of the United States while serving with *** Ordnance Medium Automotive Maintenance Company, THIRD U.S. Army, On 14 September 1944, Technician Fifth Grade Boornazian while patrolling with two other enlisted men along highway N67, in France, was stopped by a group of French civilians from whom he learned that two American soldiers were drowning in the nearby river. Without hesitation he ran to the river and determining the approximate location where the men had gone down, dove for them and searched at the bottom of the river. He succeeded in locating one of the bodies among the rocks. He took the drowned man ashore and returned for the second body which he also recovered from the river. The courageous actions of Technician Fifth Grade Boornazian, without regard to his own safety, reflect great credit upon himself and the military forces of the United States.
