The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Captain (Infantry) Douglas J. Seward, United States Army, for meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force during the period February 1969 to January 1970, while serving as Administrative/Executive Officer and later as Revolutionary Development Cadre Operations Advisor, Advisory Team 27, United States Army Advisory Group, II Corps Tactical Zone, United States Military Assistance Command, Vietnam. Captain Seward’s tenure was characterized by devoted service, meticulous attention to detail and accomplishment of his assigned duties in an exemplary manner. His initiative was reflected in a number of innovations he designed and incorporated into existing procedures. Those innovations significantly enhanced the quality of administrative support given to other echelons of command and greatly influenced the timely processing of all administrative personnel actions for the team’s advisory personnel. In his latter assignment, by his personal endeavor and devotion to duty he assisted materially in the success and effectiveness of Free World military operations in the Republic of Vietnam. Captain Seward’s performance of duty was in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
