Under the provisions of Department of Defense 1348.33-M, the Secretary of Defense of the United States of America takes pleasure in awarding the Defense Superior Service Medal to Captain Terrence M. Mahoney, United States Naval Reserve, for exceptionally superior service to the Department of Defense while serving as Chief, Engineering Division, Logistics Directorate, United States Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, from January 2004 to November 2005. During this period, Captain Mahoney displayed outstanding professionalism and leadership in addressing a broad range of difficult and complex logistical issues in support of Operations ENDURING FREEDOM and IRAQI FREEDOM, and the War on Terrorism. In a period of constrained resources, Captain Mahoney’s leadership construction management expertise were critical to planning and programming the permanent and contingency construction effort to support both current operations and future basing strategy. Captain Mahoney’s superior leadership, planning abilities, and exceptional experience in joint logistics and construction significantly contributed to the successful mission accomplishment of the U.S. Central Command and the long-term security and stability of a liberated Iraq. The singular distinctive accomplishments of Captain Mahoney reflect great credit upon himself, the United States Naval Reserve, and the Department of Defense.
