The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Master Sergeant William A. Cisson, United States Air Force, for meritorious service as First Sergeant, Third Field Maintenance Squadron, Republic of Vietnam, while engaged in ground operations against an opposing armed force from 5 November 1968 to 5 October 1969. During this period Sergeant Cisson displayed outstanding managerial abilities, leadership, and devotion to duty as First Sergeant. In spite of adverse weather conditions, long and arduous working hours, and the hazards of the combat environment, Sergeant Cisson’s effort to maintain excellence in the supervision of squadron personnel has contributed significantly to enhance the combat mission in Southeast Asia. The exemplary leadership, personal endeavor, and devotion to duty displayed by Master Sergeant Cisson in this responsible position reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
