The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Captain Gregory E. Davis, United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life at Carlsbad, New Mexico, on 28 January 1990. On that date, Captain Davis rushed to the area where a car had crashed. With complete disregard for his own safety, Captain Davis, despite the fire in the engine area and the potential hazard of an exploding fuel tank, unhesitatingly helped remove the passenger from the car and take him a safe distance away to await medical treatment. By his courageous action and humanitarian regard for his fellow man, Captain Davis has reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
