The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Captain Randy K. Jensen, United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life northwest of Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, on 29 September 1981. On that date, Captain Jensen was involved in an HH-53B accident while performing duties as an auxiliary pilot. Upon exiting the burning aircraft, Captain Jensen heard the flight engineer call for help. Although badly injured himself, Captain Jensen unhesitatingly reentered the flaming aircraft and persevered in his humanitarian efforts until he succeeded in removing the flight engineer to a place of safety. By his courageous action and humanitarian regard for his fellowman, in the dedication of his service to this country, Captain Jensen has reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
