The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Staff Sergeant Louis M. Lischko (ASN: 36715996), United States Army, for meritorious achievement in connection with military operations against the enemy while serving with Company F, 2d Battalion, 410th Infantry Regiment, 103d Infantry Division, in action against the enemy. On 30 November 1944, in the vicinity of Nothalten, France, Staff Sergeant Lischko’s platoon was pinned down by enemy fire. He worked his way back to the company command post under enemy small arms fire and reported the location of his platoon and adjacent company with which contact had been lost. He then directed artillery fire against the enemy, inflicting great casualties. Staff Sergeant Lischko then picked up twelve bandoliers of ammunition and replenished the supply of his platoon. His alert coolness under fire and intelligent direction of our artillery fire was instrumental in his platoon’s successful defense of a critical position.
