The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Jere T. Wallace (AFSN: FV-3133424), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 Forward Air Controller operating over North Vietnam on 20 November 1967. On that date, Captain Wallace located the survivor of an aircraft which was shot down over extremely hostile territory and directed a rescue helicopter to his position. With superior aggressiveness and airmanship he located and strafed gun positions which were firing on the survivor and rescue aircraft from close range, completely suppressing the hostile fire and allowing a safe recovery to be accomplished. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Wallace reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
