The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Jere T. Wallace (AFSN: FV-3133424), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Flight Lead and F-100 Fighter Pilot near Duc Co, Republic of Vietnam, on 23 July 1`967. On that date Captain Wallace led his flight in support of friendly ground forces who had come under heavy attack from a large and well armed hostile force. Despite intense ground fire, adverse weather conditions, and the close proximity of friendly forces, he made numerous attacks with unerring accuracy. As a result of his pinpoint deliveries, the friendly ground forces were able to achieve an overwhelming victory. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Wallace on this occasion reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
