Headquarters, 1st Infantry Division, General Orders No. 7 (February 22, 1943)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Howard T. Price (ASN: 0-855642), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company F, 2d Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa in 1943. Lieutenant Price continually exposed himself to enemy machine gun and small arms fire in an attack on strong enemy positions in order to check the disposition of his men. Although wounded, he insisted upon issuing his orders before he would allow himself to be evacuated to a place of safety. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
