By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Captain (Sanitary Corps) Forrest Earl White, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. During the Second Battle of the Marne from 15 July to 4 August 1918, Captain White was Medical Supply Officer of the 3d Division. Leaving his Medical Supply Depot in charge of reliable Sergeants, he took up his station on the front line, personally supervising requisition, transportation and distribution of Medical Supplies to the Battalion Aid Stations and from there to the Medical Department First Aid men in the front line trenches with utter disregard to his own personal safety. The result was, that at no time during the battle was there a shortage of the necessary dressings and medicines.
