By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Lieutenant Colonel (Field Artillery) Edmund T. Weisel, United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, 3d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the World War I Victory Medals awarded him. Lieutenant Colonel Weisel while Assistant Chief of Staff, G-1, Headquarters, 3d Division, in the Argonne-Meuse campaign, performed most valuable services handling his department in an excellent manner under very trying conditions of bombardment, gas and aerial attacks and contributing largely by his personal efforts to the success of the division.
