(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain Eugene W. Pottenger, United States Air Force, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force while serving as a Pilot with the 416th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Bien Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam, from 1966 to 1967, and subsequently as a Pilot with the 21st Tactical Air Support Squadron, Pleiku Air Base, South Vietnam, in 1971 and 1972, in action over Southeast Asia. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Captain Pottenger has reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
