Fox, Jr., United States Air Force, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force while serving as pilot of an F-100 Supersabre pilot of the 90th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Bien Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam, in action in Southeast Asia on 24 July 1967. In the Central Highlands near the Cambodian border, two companies of North Vietnamese troops sneaked in from Cambodia to ambush a platoon of the U.S. Army’s 4th Infantry Division. After pinpointing the enemy positions, Captain Fox and three of his fellow pilots steaked in and in deadly accurate strikes bombed the enemy, accounting for 25 enemy dead. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Captain Fox has reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
