(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Specialist Fourth Class Patrick Donovan Lucas (ASN: 53442753), United States Army, for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving as a Medical Aidman with Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 3d Squadron, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in the Republic of Vietnam on 15 July 1967. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
