The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Frank J. Di Nuzzo (ASN: 32852262), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of the 204th Engineer Combat Battalion, XII Corps, in action against an armed enemy on 10 February 1945, in Germany. When a direct hit wounded members of a boat crew during daylight assault crossing operations , Private First Class Di Nuzzo jumped from his boat to help save the wounded from the icy waters of the stream. Although he was wounded himself on reaching the friendly shore, he carried one man through devastating enemy fire to the aid station. After having his own wound dressed he returned to duty and made many more trips across the stream. The heroic actions of Private First Class Di Nuzzo reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
