The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Intelligence Specialist Third Class (Surface Warfare) Anthony G. Dellacroce, United States Navy, for heroism while serving at the Joint Intelligence Center Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, on 26 October 1996. While scuba diving at Electric Beach, Nanakuli, Oahu, Hawaii, Petty Officer Dellacroce demonstrated extraordinary bravery by swimming through heavy surf and strong offshore currents in the rescue of a scuba diving student. By the courageous rescue of this diver, over a mile and a half from the beach and at great personal risk, Petty Officer Dellacroce exhibited a level of courage and sacrifice that serves as an example to juniors and seniors alike. Petty Officer Dellacroce courageous and prompt actions, personal initiative, and loyal dedication to duty reflected great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
