The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Jim H. Miner (ASN: 35570477), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 68th Armored Infantry Battalion, 14th Armored Division, in action against the enemy on 20 November 1944, near Turini, France. Assigned the mission of holding the battalion OP on Hill 1926, Sergeant Miner, though twice wounded during an enemy counter-attack, continued to lead in the firing against the enemy, as well as direct the fire of the men under him, until the attack was repulsed and his mission accomplished. By his conspicuous gallantry, fearless determination and disregard for personal safety, Sergeant Miner contributed greatly to the retention of his battalion’s OP against superior enemy numbers.
