(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel (Infantry) Raymond Maladowitz, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer of the 2d Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, in action against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam in 1969. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Colonel Maladowitz and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Army.

Lieutenant Colonel Maladowitz distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as Commanding Officer of the 2d Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile), in action against the enemy in 1969. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Maladowitz, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
