The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Master Sergeant Wesley F. Cummins, United States Army Air Forces, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy of the United States at Bradley Field, Connecticut, on 3 April 1942. Master Sergeant Cummins attempted to save the life of a pilot of a plane which crashed near Bradley Field. He was severely burned in his heroic attempts to save the trapped pilot. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by Master Sergeant Cummins reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
