    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) Herbert Edgar Marshburn, Jr. (ASN: 0-59414), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as a Platoon Leader in Company A, 1st Battalion, 32d Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy, in action against the enemy at the Chosin Reservoir in North Korea, on 30 November 1950. By his unselfish and heroic conduct Second Lieutenant Marshburn enabled many of his comrades to retreat successfully from the Chinese onslaught when he himself might have escaped. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Second Lieutenant Marshburn, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
