(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel (Corps of Engineers) Avery Skinner Fullerton, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as a Battalion Commander of the 23d Infantry, in action against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam from 1967 to 1968. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Colonel Fullerton and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Army.

United States Military Academy Register of Graduates(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Colonel (Corps of Engineers) Avery Skinner Fullerton, United States Army, for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam. Lieutenant Colonel Fullerton distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as Commanding Officer of the 4th Battalion, 23d Infantry regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in 1968. Lieutenant Colonel Fullerton led his battalion in routing a numerically superior force after two days of relentless fighting at Trang Bang. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Fullerton, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
