(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Colonel Kyle Watson Bowie, United States Army, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight evidenced by voluntary actions above and beyond the call of duty while serving with the Military Assistance Team, Vietnam, in 1970. Colonel Bowie outstanding courage and dedication to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit and the United States Army.

Lieutenant Colonel Bowie distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous actions while serving as Commanding Officer of the 2d Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in 1965 and 1966. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Lieutenant Colonel Bowie, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
