The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Staff Sergeant Reginald Tyrone Bailey, United States Army, for heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy of the United States. Staff Sergeant Bailey distinguished himself in a heroic manner on 31 March 1993, during an automobile accident in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Without regard to personal safety he subjected himself to endangerment of an automobile that was continually spinning out of control by diving through the broken window and turning off the ignition. Staff Sergeant Bailey’s heroic action, selflessness, and dedication reflects great credit on him and the United States Army.
