The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Rex L. Dull, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-111A Aircraft Commander over Cambodia on 10 July 1973. On that date Major Dull displayed outstanding airmanship and ability by successfully striking his target, which was very close to friendly troop positions near the besieged city of Pnom Phen. Major Dull then led two flights of F-4’s to targets in an area of severe thunderstorms by skillfully maneuvering his aircraft to direct the flights through the weather and deliver their bombs with devastating accuracy on enemy troop concentrations. Post strike photo reconnaissance confirmed the results of his strike which contributed directly and significantly to the United States mission in Southeast Asia. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Major Dull reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
