The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Albert W. Faulk, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an O-2B Pilot near Duc Lap, Republic of Vietnam, on 31 October 1969. On that date, Captain Faulk volunteered to fly a “Quick Reaction” loudspeaker mission in support of a United States Special Forces camp under attack from hostile forces. Though it was necessary for the American forces to abandon the camp, Captain Faulk’s loudspeaker message exhorting the civilians and soldiers of the Government of Vietnam to remain loyal to their leaders was instrumental in making the withdrawal an orderly one without many casualties. The professional competence, aerial skill and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Faulk reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
