    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Robert F. Grubb, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a member of a flight of four F-105 Thunderchiefs, assigned to attack the largest and most important airfield in North Vietnam, on 18 November 1967. Flying through an extremely accurate and lethal barrage of surface to air missiles and heavy anti-aircraft fire, Major Grubb delivered his ordnance precisely on the assigned target. His devotion to duty and courage under all conditions serve as an inspiration to his fellow flyers. His actions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.

Grubb, United States Air Force, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while serving as an F-105 Flight Leader, in action against the enemy over North Vietnam on 5 January 1968. Despite intense target defenses and a battle damaged aircraft, Major Grubb continued his attack and delivered his ordnance precisely on target. Again disregarding his own personal safety, he returned to the virulent environment to the target area to aid a stricken flight member. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Air Force.
