(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain William Ward Smith (AFSN: 0-3036593), United States Air Force, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against a hostile force during an air mission in the Republic of Vietnam. Captain Smith distinguished himself by intrepid actions while serving with the 505th Tactical Control Group, 7th Air Force from 15 to 23 July 1966.
