Paul Scheidecker graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1937. After serving in the Army Air Forces in World War II, he transferred to the U.S. Air Force when it became a separate branch of service in 1947. He was killed in a car accident in 1964 while serving as a U.S. Air Force Major General.

Scheidecker, United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished services to the Government of the United States, in a duty of great responsibility as Commander of the Air Force Accounting and Finance Center from 7 July 1960 to 16 May 1964. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Major General Scheidecker and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
