    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Major Charles Edward Rogers (AFSN: FR-28965), United States Air Force, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against a hostile force during an air mission in the Republic of Vietnam. Major Rogers distinguished himself by intrepid actions while serving with 1st Air Commando Squadron, 14th Air Command Wing, 7th Air Force, in action against the enemy in Southeast Asia on 4 May 1967. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Air Force.
