Louis Conti enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941 after graduating from Cornell University, where he was a member of the outstanding football teams of 1938 – 1940. He subsequently was commissioned as a Naval aviation cadet and served as a Marine Corps aviator in World War II. He retired as a U.S. Marine Corps Major General.
