On that date, Major Posey was scheduled to fly an emergency re-supply mission of badly needed ammunition from DaNang Air Base to An Hoa. Due to the severe weather in the area, including a ceiling of only 2,000 feet at An Hoa, Major Posey, realizing the desperate need for the ammunition, elected to fly the mission at low level in the hostile environment. Prior to landing Major Posey’s aircraft received six hits from small arms fire, but with great courage and determination he continued and successfully completed the hazardous mission.
