The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain William Terrell Posey (AFSN: FR-55714), United States Air Force, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force at Khe Sanh, Republic of Vietnam, on 6 April 1968. On that date, Captain Posey flew a tactical emergency re-supply airdrop mission of vitally needed ammunition to friendly ground forces besieged at Khe Sanh. Under extremely hazardous conditions and with complete disregard for his personal safety, Captain Posey aggressively pursued and successfully completed this crucial mission. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Captain Posey has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
