George Porter graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of January 1943. During World War II he was credited with destroying FOUR enemy aircraft in aerial combat. He retired in 1970 as a U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel.

The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Porter, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
