(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Colonel George J. Kertesz, United States Air Force, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving as an F-100 pilot of the 355th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Phu Cat Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, in action against the enemy over Southeast Asia in 1968. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Air Force.
