William Kelly served as an enlisted B-24 Ball Turret Gunner during World War II and was discharged after the war as a Staff Sergeant, when he entered law school. He was commissioned in 1950 and recalled to duty as a legal officer. He retired in 1983 as a U.S. Air Force Major General.
