The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Raymond F. Jesek (ASN: 6863261), United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 7th Bomber Command, SEVENTH Air Force, during the attack on Hickam Field, Territory of Hawaii, by Japanese forces (aircraft) on 7 December 1941. Staff Sergeant Jesek, though already wounded, proceeded to drive an ambulance through strafing and bombing, picking up wounded and taking them to the hospital. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Staff Sergeant Jesek, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
