The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Major General Thomas Stanley Jeffrey, Jr., United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Jeffrey distinguished himself as Director of Production and Programming, Deputy Chief of Staff, Systems and Logistics, and as Director of Production and Programming, and Director of Production, Deputy Chief of Staff, Research and Development, Headquarters United States Air Force, from 1 June 1967 to 30 April 1970. During this period, General Jeffrey’s outstanding achievements, and his dynamic leadership and initiative resulted in unprecedented improvements in the operational effectiveness of the major weapon systems employed by the United States Air Force. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Jeffrey culminate a long and distinguished career in the service of his country, and reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
