The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General Richard A. Ingram, United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Ingram distinguished himself as Deputy Commander of the Canadian North American Aerospace Defense Region and Commander of the 4722d Support Squadron, Canadian Forces Base North Bay, Ontario, Canada, from 11 June 1985 to 31 August 1988. In this important assignment, the forceful leadership and outstanding and dedicated efforts of General Ingram were significantly displayed in the strategic direction of all United States forces in Canada. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Ingram culminate a long and distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
