Faw, United States Marine Corps, was awarded a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Director, Judge Advocate Division, Headquarters Marine Corps and Staff Judge Advocate for the Commandant of the Marine Corps from 7 August 1969 through 1 September 1971.
