A professional baseball player, early in World War II Fred Glover moved to Canada, earning his wings and was sent to England as a ferry pilot. He transferred to the U.S. Army Air Forces in May 1943, and became a World War II DOUBLE ACE, credited with shooting down 10.33 enemy aircraft in aerial combat. After the war he transferred to the new U.S. Air Force until 1949. He died in an aircraft accident in 1956.
