Gill (ASN: 0-660344), United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving in a Heavy Bomber of the 329th Bombardment Squadron, 93d Bombardment Group (Heavy), EIGHTH Air Force, in action against the enemy in the European Theater of Operations during World War II. His actions on all these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Force of the United States.

Gill (ASN: 0-660344), United States Army Air Forces, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving as Bombardier of a B-24 Liberator Bomber of the 329th Bombardment Squadron, 93d Bombardment Group (Heavy), EIGHTH Air Force, in aerial operations in the European Theater of Operations, in 1943. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by First Lieutenant Gill, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
