The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Gunner’s Mate First Class Charles Stephen Schepke, United States Navy, for extraordinary heroism while serving on the U.S.S. Missouri, at sea near Pensacola, Florida, in remaining by a burning magazine and assisting to extinguish the fire, 13 April 1904.
