The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Major General George A. Edwards, Jr., United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Edwards distinguished himself as Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff, Logistics, Inspector General, Chief of Staff, and Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans, Headquarters Tactical Air Command, from 10 April 1974 to 13 October 1977. During this period, General Edwards’ outstanding achievements and his dynamic leadership, initiative and resourcefulness resulted in significant improvement in working joint-service problems, enhancement of tactical ranges and study projects, and efficient and effective management of the weapon system acquisition process. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Edwards reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
