The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Brigadier General James C. Dever, Jr., United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. General Dever distinguished himself as Deputy Chief of Staff, Contracting and Manufacturing, Headquarters Air Force Logistics Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, from 1 June 1979 to 28 March 1981. In this important assignment, General Dever consistently exhibited the highest degree of professional competence and integrity in directing numerous programs to insure effective support of the Nation’s combat and deterrent forces. The singular distinctive accomplishment of General Dever reflect great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the United States Air Force.
